ABOUT ME.

I’m Anneloes Leijssen, a Dutch communications and PR specialist with over 15 years of experience in media relations, brand storytelling, corporate communication, and advocacy.

 

As the founder of hu|em (humanity & empathy), I specialize in creative communication strategies that build connections and amplify voices in the arts, culture, and social impact sectors. With a track record of securing high-profile media coverage, leading international campaigns, and engaging diverse stakeholders.

​Since moving to Penang in 2017, I co-founded Open Studios Penang, Malaysia’s largest open studios event, and I have worked in women's empowerment and social equity.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and a Master's degree in Popular Culture and Media Entertainment from the University of Amsterdam. I further specialized in converging media and women in media at the University of Copenhagen, to deepen my understanding of media dynamics, gender representation, and cultural narratives.
